XIAO LONG NU aka THE LITTLE DRAGON GIRL

Here's another character from Jin Yong's Return of the Condor Heroes.  Xiao Long Nu (or Tieu Long Nu in Vietnamese), aka the Little Dragon Girl (literal English tranlsation), is Yang Guo's wife and the only descendant left from the Ancient Tomb sect.  Jin Yong's Return of the Condor Heroes is perhaps my favorite out of all his novels written to date.  Yang Guo and Xiao Long Nu's characters are well written and their romance is very touching.  Many Westerners will never come to comprehend the importance of a Jin Yong novel.  As many times as it is translated, the Wu Xia form and understanding is something that is deeply rooted in the Asian tradition.  It's kind of like the Western cowboys and Indian days of America.  As much as we read or see movies about it, we (as Asians) will never truly grasp what it is like to be a Cowboy.  Same principle applies there.

Making Xiao Long Nu wasn't much of a challenge except for finding the right headsculpt.  Most CYGirls are Caucasian or not-so-pretty Asians.  The best Asian headsculpt they did was from the Japanese limited figures by Takara - Revenger, Luna, etc.  I ended up rerooting a Ladies Mission head with black hair for Xiao Long Nu.

Her sword is from the DML Hero Maggie Cheung figure.  All her clothes, shoes, socks, etc. are all custom made. I'm still not where I want to be with sewing women's clothing.  I could do okay with Chinese garments but sizing and streamlining garments to fit a woman's unique body shape is not as easy as you may think.  After several attempts, I finally got the right fit and materials for her.  Her inner robe is a bright white satin while her outer robe is made from a tough canvas-like material.

I kept the original Aoshima Ladies Mission body because of the smaller breast size - unlike the super-bubble-breasts which comes standard with most of the CY Girls.  The articulation is is on par with a CY body, but it doesn't look as shapely as it should be.  But the Aoshima body is perfect for Xiao Long Nu in this case.
