REVOLVER OCELOT - METAL GEAR SOLID

Revolver Ocelot . . . the only man to ever survive the Metal Gear Solid series (apart from Solid Snake).  Ocelot is one of the more cooler characters in the game.  His specialty in "torturing" always make me smirk when I think about him.  Old school pistols and that silver-haired pony tail of his just makes Revolver Ocelot all that much more hip.

Here's another rather long and strenuous project.  After making Solid Snake, I had the sudden urge to make all the cool MGS villains in the game.  Revolver Ocelot is the first, of many, villains that I plan to do from the MGS series.  I still have Olga and a few others still in the works so check back soon.

The head is another modified DML World War II guy that I sanded the hair down, repainted and sculpted the moustache on.  The original headsculpt look quite good and I didn't qutie see Ocelot in it.  But once the moustache and hair came on, I said to myself "now that's Ocelot."

Revolver Ocelot's hair was rather difficult for several reasons.  Pulling rooted hair back into a pony tail is not hard, but getting it to look smooth and nicely pulled tight like real hair is the difficult part.  Rooted hair seems rather hard to pull off primarily because it's, well, plastic, and leaves the head looking thick.  Instead of rooting his entire head, I rooted just around the hairline, with a very small amount of hair in each plug to get it slimmed down when the actual tying begins.  The result turned out rather well.

Believe it or not, the easiest part on Ocelot was sculpting on his little Western-styled moustache.  I just took Apoxie sculpt clay and started sculpting it on.

The boots are from BBI Saburo.  I added some diecast spurs from the In the Past World War II figures.  His ammo bandoliers, belt and holsters are sewn from brown pleather.  Each of the bullets are small strips I cut out individually from World War II ammo bandoliers and then sewn on to the pleather.  For a little more dramatic effect, I added the sand colored webbing, buckles and studs.

His outfit is from a DML Modern guy and the brown working gloves are also from a World War II In the Past Toys figure.  I was going to sew it from brown pleather too, but I had an extra glove lying around so why not.  His dark brown overcoat is from the Van Helsing figure released from Sideshow.  I was about to sew myself one too, but the Van Helsing coat was rather perfect because it had the duster shoulder pads and the long drape.
