Ahh, the great Morpheus . . . Captain of the Neberkenezer and the one to find "The One." Lawrence Fishburne is a great actor and was perfect for the Morpheus role. It's just too bad the Wachowski brothers didn't make the Morpheus role a little more pivotal. I custom made almost everything you see here. Except for his shirt, which is BBI's Carlos black dress shirt, I sewed his purple slack pants and vest. The back of his vest is made of stretch velvet with a buckle enclosure. His guns are from the Hasbro Weapontech series. His sword and glasses are from the BBI Saburo figure. I cut off the ends of the glasses and added tape to the insides
His tie is sewn from fluorescent green fabric I bought locally at a fabric shop. Boots are standard Dragon World War II stuff. I depainted the Dragon Flip head and repainted Morpheus because Dragon made him way too dark. Laurence Fishburne's skintone was rather light instead. The biggest challenge in doing Morpheus has to be his coat. I've tried making it several times with various types of materials, but I finally stumbled on the solution while playing poker with several of my buddies one night. I noticed that the plastic tablecloth we were playing on was rather rugged and stiff, but it looks just like Morpheus' coat pattern. Looking closely at the tablecloth, the pattern looked very nice, but it was made of vinyl, which means it is almost impossible to sew and stiff as heck. You can guess where I'm heading with this, so. . . I went and bought myself the same type of vinyl tablecloth. Because the tablecloth was white, I had to find a way to make it black. After cutting out the patterns, I spray painted the tablecloth patterns with matte black Krylon spray paint. I then sewed it up and whoalah! Whaddaya know, the paint sticks! The hardest part was sewing the jacket together. Punching needles through plastic with your hands is not fun nor is it easy, but it is very rewarding when you see the end results of what is made. Take a look at the pictures.. My Favorite Quotes from the movie: "I believe it is our fate to be here. It is our destiny. I believe this night holds, for each and every one of us, the very meaning of our lives. This is a war and we are soldiers. What if tomorrow the war could be over? Isn't that worth fighting for? Isn't that worth dying for?"
