HIBANA - NIGHTSHADE

I wasn't too crazy about the "Shinobi" game on the Playstation 2.  It was extremely annoying to play, but the character design and moves are quite cool.  When they announced that a sequel would be made, I just shrugged it off.  Then I saw Hibana for the first time in Play Magazine's special issue entitled "The Hottest Girls of Video Gaming."  Hibana is hot alright.  She ranked number two as the all time hottest (to date) game figure.

It took me a long time to complete Hibana for several reasons.  The outfit as you can figure, was the hardest to do.  I couldn't figure out how to sew it.  Hibana's outfit required see through netting that shows off the sides of her body.  Where would I find netting that is in 1/6 scale? Besides, my sewing skills still aren't where I want it to be, but it must be tried.

Second problem was her helmet/head cover.  Should I sculpt it as one piece stuck to the head like most people do?  I shouldn't because I want her to have hair because hair, makes a girl look hot.  Unless of course you think bald women are hot.  I rerooted BBI's Elektra head with long black hair. The head piece is sewn as a cap from pleather and I sculpted her eye goggles onto the cap.  Initially, I planned to sculpt her goggles as a separate piece so that it can be moved over her eyes, but that can be done easily here by moving her cap forward a little and looks equally as cool.

Her entire outfit is sewn from red pleather and white lycra.  I attached black ribbon trim and made her weapons belt out of black pleather.  The throwing knives around her belt are from the Sideshow Jinx figure.  I repainted Elektra's hands red and gave her a BBI Saburo katana that was also repainted.

Hibana, as you see her, is not entirely accurate.  I started out wanting to make Hibana as accurate as possible to the game after I fell in love looking at pictures of the game.  But after the game was actually released and I played it, it annoyed the living hell out of me. After I made her halfway through, I decided I didn't want to do her anymore and was going to scrap her things and make a new figure.  So the shoulder and leg armors you see are not really Hibana's armor from the game.  Of course, I changed my mind yet once again and wanted to do Hibana but I already completed the majority of the figure so I left it at that.  Either way, she looks quite cool and would make a good companion to my BBI Shi figure.
