Equilibrium is one of the most innovative action films out there. If you're reading this and have no idea what this film is, drop what you're doing and run out and rent a copy of it right now. The hyper action scenes are some of the best you will ever see. It's just too bad that the bright people (NOT) at Miramax Films spend their time trying to buy out Asian movie rights instead of focusing on what their in-house people are doing. They had no idea what a treasure chest they're sitting on and never marketed the film to its fullest ability. Most people have never heard of Equilibrium before its DVD release, which is a really sad thing.
I've been quite busy lately. Getting fired from your job and armed with a used $25 sewing machine can be a dangerous mix. I've done nothing but sew for the past few days. Surprisingly, it's quite fun. I just hate to clean up the mess afterwards. Cleric's black coat is my first machine sewing experience. I had no idea it was so darn hard to just get a straight line when going through the machine. I watched the film several times to get his coat right and I think I nailed it with the patterns you see here. Although the fit could be a little better.
Cleric's sidearm was a different matter. From the pictures you see below, I didn't nail it 100%. I used a BBI 9mm Beretta and added the front extension from an InToyz gun with superglue. I'm too lazy to sculpt it.
After completing Neo and Morpheus, I realized that it is cheaper, easier, and faster to use an existing sculpt, modify it to your taste than it is to commission a head you want. The head is a modified DML Mel head. I shaved off his hair, depainted him, sculpted his hair with sculpey and repainted him again. The DML Mel sculpt is excellent. His facial expressions and details is far above par than most other DML figure head sculpts. I wouldn't doubt that this isn't a Jim Maddox sculpt. His G36 is from the BBI Angel figure. White outfit and shoes are from the Jason Ng Tao Bruce Lee figure. Cleric was fairly easy to do and it only took me a few days to complete. The Mel head doesn't look exactly like Christian Bale, but a lot of the features like the cheekbone and mouth structure is very similar. I didn't see him when I look at the Mel sculpt but after I redid his hair, he looked a lot more like Bale. I'm pretty happy with the way he is so I went a little overboard with all of his cool gun kata poses. This is actually just one figure with two different outfits. I get a lot of email about it for some reason.
