| BLADE, THE DAYWALKER | |||||||||

All of their strengths, none of their weaknesses. Blade II is really one of the first films that successfully blended CGI animation with martial arts. The fight scenes are beautifully captured and the special effects are not "way out" there where people are flying through buildings while pummeling each other. Extremely well crafted film deserves extremely well crafted custom figures. I have actually attempted to do Blade on several occasions (three times to be exact). The first version was made with a Poppo Toys head. The second version was made with a Frontline head and the final version is what you see. It's from the Toybiz/Marvel Blade II figure. I absolutely loved Toy Biz's Blade II figure. The headsculpt is extremely well done. Too bad I can't say the same for most of his gear though. I touched up his face again with some highlights and replaced his body with a BBI figure. Dragon bodies do not work since he has little to no neck. I spent a few months looking for a replacement for his sword. The one that came with the Toybiz version was horrendous. It was way oversized and the handle was just crap. I customized my own by sculpting the handle in Sculpey clay and then attaching a real stainless steel letter opener blade on. That blade is really sharp too. I cut myself once while trying to work on his coat. Too real huh?
One of the best things I liked about Toybiz's version is Blade's glaive, aka the "Blade-a-rang." It folds out and is made of soft plastic, but is very nicely detailed. Toybiz put in three guns - the shotgun and both guns from Blade I and II. Too bad none of the guns have holes in them so it looks kind of funny. I've been meaning to drill them out, but I keep forgetting. I intend to complete the Blade II figures soon. I've finished Rhinehardt, Nomak and a Reaper. Whistler, on the other hand, is one of the hardest projects that I have ever tackled. No one even comes close to resembling Whistler's head (that is readily available). I might have to sculpt his head, but that will take forever. Check back soon when I finish the rest of them. I also need to make a new updated version of Blade from Blade: Trinity also. His weapons are a little cooler plus you have Whistler's daughter. Who could resist that? My Favorite
Quotes from the movie: "At dawn, those curtains open whether you heal or not." "Told you I'll be back for you."
